The Bottom Line

We found 273 bird species and one hybrid on Tropical Audubon Society birding trips during the 2001-2 birding season (August--May). The list includes 11 species that are not countable under ABA listing rules. These birds are marked as "exotic", "feral" or "reintroduced", as seems appropriate. It also includes 8 species that are considered established, but non-native. These species are not countable under Florida Fish and Wildlife rules for the Wings over Florida certificate program. Our list includes 262 ABA-countable species and 254 FFW-countable species.
