The Bottom Line
We found 293 bird species on Tropical Audubon Society regular birding trips during the 2003-4 birding season (August--May). The list includes 22 species that are not countable under ABA listing rules. These birds are marked as "exotic", "feral" or "reintroduced", as seems appropriate. It also includes 10 species that are considered established, but non-native. We presume that the ABA checklist committee believes the Yellow-chevroned Parakeet is ABA-countable. These non-native species are not countable under Florida Fish and Wildlife rules for the Wings over Florida certificate program. Our list includes 271 ABA-countable species and 261 FFW-countable species. A triplist for the TAS Puerto Rico trip is included separately.
