We may have a nesting pair of house finches here at our compound next to Palm Lodge in Homestead. The male has been singing for several weeks now, between our property and Palm Lodge, next door. Both birds, male and female, frequent a black olive tree along the 1-lane road on the west side of Palm Lodge. The male has a red upper breast and red on its head, while the female is non-descript brownish. Both were sitting together on a powerline this past Sunday directly in front of our property.
