Phoebes Bird Walk: Everglades National Park - Royal Palm Hammock

The Phoebes' (an all-female birding group) Alison Enchelmaier will lead this guided walk through Everglades National Park's Gumbo Limbo Trail & along Anhinga Trail boardwalk at Royal Palm Hammock. Together, we will look for wading birds, cormorants, ibis, alligators and other wildlife that are often easily viewed on the Anhinga Trail path. We’ll also look for Black Vultures, Purple Gallinules, Great Blue Herons, and migrating warblers as well as other species. The walk is open to female birders of any experience level. For those without binoculars, Leica Store Miami will provide optics on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent. After the walk, join us for a picnic at Long Pine Key. This event is free and open to woman of all ages. Meet at the Royal Palm Visitor Center, Everglades National Park, Homestead, FL. The visitor center is four miles from the main park entrance/Ernest Coe Visitor Center (40001 State Highway 9336Homestead, FL, 33034 United States) What to Pack: Snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, long sleeves, binoculars, if you have them, refillable water bottles. Bungee cords and car tarps can come in handy here, too! Pack picnic bites to share if you like.
