Tropical Audubon Society's field trip to Everglades National Park (and environs) found a few decent birds Saturday (4 January). The weather was pleasantly cool with a nice breeze. Highlights included

Fri.-Mon., Jan. 17-20 - North Florida Trip

The first official TAS North Florida Trip found 135 species, including 3 loon species, 21 waterfowl species, and many others, but no Junco for Paul Bithorn. Read leader Brian Rapoza's report.

Sat., Feb. 1 - Old Venus / Archbold

Sat. March 15 - Kissimmee Prairie Preserve / Three Lakes WMA

Our first TAS trip to Kissimmee Prairie yielded closeup views of Bachman's Sparrow. Wild Turkey and Crested Caracara were seen along the road, and Brown-headed Nuthatch and Red-cockaded Woodpecker were found at Three Lakes. Read leader Brian Rapoza's Report

Fri.-Sun, March 21-23 - Grand Bahama

West-Indian Woodpecker, Olive-capped Warbler and Bahama Woodstar were among the highlights seen on Grand Bahama. Read leader Larry Manfredi's report.

APRIL 2003

Sat. April 12 - Virginia Key / Key Biscayne

Alex Harper reports on the first portion of the walk. Nine warbler species were recorded: Orange-crowned, Parula, BT Blue, Prairie, Palm, Black-and-white, Redstart, Worm-eating, and Common Yellowthroat. Additional interesting birds seen on the walk included Gray Kingbird, Black-whiskered Vireo, Bobolink, Common Nighthawk, lots of Merlins, and an American Robin. An immature Broad-winged Hawk made a close fly-by on the hill.
