A link to the faq appears above, as it has since the beginning of the bird board. A link also appears on the main page in the posting section.
As far as difficulty posting images is concerned, most of the failures seem to involve incorrect URLs. E.g., one person recently kept posting an invisible spacer gif instead of the actual image. In many cases the biggest problem is that flickr and similar sites don't easily reveal the actual URL.
