Hello everybirdy!
We had the Biscayne National Park Christmas Bird Count on December 14, 2007. We took boats out to Elliott Key, Boca Chita Key, the Arsnickers, and also birded the Headquarters area at Convoy Point and the Mowry Canal area. The weather was not as windy as we thought, and we did not get rain, but unfortunately it was not a "birdy" day, despite having some very good birders aboard. My thanks to Ann and Roger Bird, Elizabeth Golden, Barbara DeWitt, Judd Patterson, Dr. Vanessa McDonough, Dr. Sue Perry, Jeff Weber, David Zomick and Stephanie Zomick, and of course our intrepid compiler Howard "Max" Tritt. Here is what we saw that day. Much to Jeff's delight, we also got a good look at an American crocodile by Mowry Canal. Unfortunately we saw no manatees or dolphins this time, unlike previous counts. We hope you join us next time!
